Muzaffarabad , July 11, 2024: In a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, regarding the prevention of traffic accidents in Azad Kashmir, it was decided to establish a separate secretariat for the Transport Authority. The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir has given a 72-hour deadline to make the Transport Authority, Regional Transport Authorities, and Motor Vehicles Examiner fully functional. The meeting also decided to take legal action against those responsible for issuing permits and fitness certificates for vehicles involved in traffic accidents and those displaying criminal negligence.

The meeting was attended by the Most Senior Minister Colonel (Retd.) Waqar Ahmed Noor, Minister for Local Government Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Chief Secretary Daud Muhammad Bareech, Principal Secretary Zafar Mahmood Khan, Senior Member Board of Revenue Muhammad Zaheer Qureshi, Secretary Law and Justice Parliamentary Affairs Chaudhry Muhammad Sajjad, Inspector General of Police Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan, Commissioner Muzaffarabad Adnan Khurshid, and other relevant officials.

The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir emphasized that the fitness of vehicles should be thoroughly checked and traffic laws should be fully enforced to prevent the loss of human lives. He stated that comprehensive measures should be taken under a well-formulated policy to prevent accidents in Azad Kashmir, and steps should also be taken for further legislation in this regard.
