AJK, with its three rivers, lakes, and snowy peaks, has great potential for hydroelectric power. It could generate over 20,000 megawatts of electricity. Mangla Dam near Mirpur is the world’s largest dam. AJK has around 4,000 megawatts of hydropower projects underway. Once fully utilized, this potential could meet Pakistan’s power needs.
