Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq talks on AJK Assembly floor

Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, stated that the Azad Kashmir government has sent a letter to the federal government regarding the completion of infrastructure affected by the 2005 earthquake. Expressing his views on Chaudhry Muhammad Rashid’s resolution in the Legislative Assembly, he supported the resolution. In this regard, the Speaker formed a committee headed by Colonel (Retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor, consisting of Assembly members Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Diwan Ali Khan Chughtai, Chaudhry Muhammad Rashid, Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, and Sardar Hassan Ibrahim, to discuss this matter with the federal government.

Minister of School Education, Diwan Ali Khan Chughtai, supporting the resolution, said that ERRA is being dissolved and merged into NDMA, and the remaining rehabilitation work in Azad Kashmir should be carried out by NDMA. Professor Taqdees Gilani stated that many schools from the 2005 earthquake are still without roofs, and the completion of hospitals is pending. They expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the 23 billion rupee package given to Azad Kashmir and for the commitment to address Azad Kashmir’s pending liabilities. Ms. Imtiaz Naseem mentioned that Colonel Naseem had started the construction of a 22-kilometer road in Bagh, which should be completed.

Minister of Law Mian Abdul Waheed said that ERRA’s mandate should be handed over to NDMA. Pir Mazhar Saeed stressed the need for immediate implementation of Chaudhry Muhammad Rashid’s resolution. Health Minister Nisar Ansar Abdali suggested forming a committee to discuss pending liabilities with the federal government. Opposition Leader Khawaja Farooq Ahmed emphasized that the federal government should provide funds for the completion of earthquake-affected infrastructure.
