Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, a high-level meeting of the governing body of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical Colleges was held. Minister of Government Chaudhry Muhammad Rashid was also present. In the meeting, through a video link, the Minister of Health for Azad Kashmir, Nasir Ansar Abbasi, Chief Secretary of Azad Kashmir, Dawood Muhammad Bariach, Special Secretary Health Rashed Haneef, Principals of Medical Colleges, and other relevant officials participated. Special Secretary Health Rashed Haneef provided a detailed briefing on the budget, faculty shortage, and other matters of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical Colleges.

Approval for the budget of the fiscal year 2023-24 for all three medical colleges of Azad Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Mirpur, was also granted in the governing body meeting. A budget of 243.249 million rupees was approved for Muzaffarabad Medical College, 243.616 million rupees for Mirpur Medical College, and 230.469 million rupees for Ponch Medical College. Approvals were also given for the appointments of professors and assistant professors in the medical colleges.

The Prime Minister stated that no compromise would be made on the quality of education. Staff shortages will be addressed on a priority basis. The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir said that the students graduating from medical colleges are our future. The government will provide all necessary resources to medical colleges so that they can provide quality education to medical students.
