On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, a special session of the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was convened under the presidency of Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar on Monday. For the session, the Speaker appointed a panel of chairpersons, including Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, and Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi.

During this event, prayers were offered for the widow of former President of Azad Kashmir, Begum Shireen Khurshid, for the martyrs of Kashmir, the Armed Forces of Pakistan, and also for the late Haji Khursheed. Addressing the assembly, Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar.

He mentioned that the special session on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day would boost the morale of the people of Kashmir on this side of the Line of Control (LoC). Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar stated that the relentless efforts for the self-determination rights of the people of Kashmir have always been supported by the State of Pakistan, Pakistani people, and governments.

He expressed that the Kashmiris have been enduring the oppression and barbarism of India for the past 75 years. The purpose of Kashmir Solidarity Day is to raise a voice against the tyranny and brutality of India in occupied Kashmir. He added that every year on Kashmir Solidarity Day, the President or Prime Minister of Pakistan visits and addresses the Legislative Assembly, and today the people of Azad Kashmir are eager to hear the message from the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar anticipated that the address by the Prime Minister in the Legislative Assembly and the condemnation of Indian actions would send a positive message beyond the Line of Control, providing a new direction to the Kashmir freedom movement.

On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, while addressing a special session of the Legislative Assembly, Opposition Leader Khawaja Farooq Ahmed stated that on this day, the people and governments of Pakistan reaffirm their commitment to unity with the Kashmiris. Despite Pakistan facing financial, political, and diplomatic challenges, it has consistently shown commitment to the moral, political, and diplomatic support of the Kashmiris.

He emphasized that a strong and stable Pakistan is the key to the success of the Kashmir freedom movement. A strong Pakistan can engage in dialogue with India and has demonstrated commitment over the past 75 years. He said that all political parties in Azad Kashmir are united on the issue of Kashmir. On this day, by crossing the Line of Control, we want to convey a message to the people of Kashmir that the 22-party government and the people are behind them in their struggle for freedom.

He stated that the day is not far when we will see the flag of Pakistan waving at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. He expressed hope that under the leadership of Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, peaceful elections in Pakistan would be possible. He urged the Prime Minister to take initiatives for the welfare of migrants in Azad Kashmir, including providing health cards.

On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, a special session of the Legislative Assembly was adjourned indefinitely after a day’s proceedings. The session was convened to address the unity sentiments with the people of Kashmir and condemn the illegal actions of India. Both resolutions presented in this regard were unanimously approved.
